General Questions
CTF7 is a platform for hosting and participating in cybersecurity Capture The Flag (CTF) competitions, hackathons, and other technical events. We provide all the tools organizers need to create challenges and manage events, and a seamless experience for participants.
To register, simply go to the specific event's page on our platform. If the event is open for registration, you'll find a "Register" button. You will need to create a free CTF7 account if you don't have one already.
Yes, most CTF competitions allow teams. You can either create your own team and invite members or join an existing one. Look for the team management options on the event's page after you've registered.
We host a wide range of events, from beginner-friendly "Jeopardy-style" CTFs to advanced "Attack/Defense" competitions and hackathons. Our events cover various topics, including web exploitation, cryptography, and reverse engineering.
Competition & Technical Questions
A **flag** is the secret string of text you need to find to solve a challenge. It follows a specific format, such as
CTF7{This_is_an_example_flag}. You submit the flag on the challenge page to get your points.
On each challenge page, there is a submission box. Simply type or paste the flag you found into the box and click "Submit." If the flag is correct, you will be awarded points.
If an event offers hints, you can find them on the challenge page. Be aware that using a hint will typically result in a small point deduction. You can also ask for help from your teammates or check community forums.
Scores are based on the point value of each challenge. Point values can be static or dynamic, decreasing as more teams solve the challenge. The total score is the sum of all points from challenges solved by your team.
